Prof. Dr. Mustafa Özateş

Biography

I was born in 1966 in the Birecik district of Şanlıurfa. I completed my primary and
secondary education in my hometown, Birecik.

In 1983, I was admitted to Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa)
After 6 years of successful education, I graduated in 1989, and in the same year, after passing the Medical Specialty Examination (TUS),
I started my Radiology training at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine.

Between 1993 and 1995, as a Radiology Specialist I worked in various
hospitals in Gaziantep. After passing the Assistant Professorship examination, I started working
as a faculty member at Dicle University in 1995.

In 2003, after the examination held at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, I became entitled to receive the title of Associate Professor.

Between 2005 and 2013, I served as the Head of the Radiology Clinic, Educational and Administrative Supervisor at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital.

In 2013, I started working as a Professor at Nişantaşı University.

I am a member of the Board of Directors of Nişantaşı University.

On March 15, 2013, I was appointed as the Interuniversity Council Representative.

I am a subspecialist in “Pediatric Radiology.” Meanwhile, my articles have been published in many journals both in Turkey and abroad. I have presented written and oral papers and given conferences at congresses in various cities and countries.

As the Head of the Radiology Clinic at Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital, I am the physician who performed the first Coronary CT Angiography in a state hospital in Istanbul.

At Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital, by establishing what was at the time Turkey’s most advanced Radiology PACS and teleradiology systems I earned the appreciation of the healthcare community.

I am among Turkey’s first certified Pediatric Radiology Subspecialists.

The training level of the residents in the clinic where I served as chief was evaluated by the European Society of Radiology within the scope of the European Training Assessment Programme (ETAP) on October 21 and 22, 2011, found successful, and certified with the ESR 2011 ETAP Certificate for assessed departments Istanbul.

Meanwhile, I have served on the specialty examination jury for many resident doctors.

I completed my military service during the March-April 2000 period at the 200-Bed Malatya Military Hospital.

I am married and the father of 3 children.

I have a good command of English.
